iZem, the creative force behind the acronym "in Ze early morning," manifests the innovative spirit of Jérémie Moussaid Kerouanton. This French-born music producer has spent over a decade navigating the intersections of cultures, music, and technology, earning acclaim from industry luminaries such as Gilles Peterson, Bonobo, Mount Kimbie, Quantic, and Branko. From his early days in Paris's record stores and radio stations to globe-trotting adventures that fueled his artistic drive, iZem's journey is a testament to his boundless curiosity and commitment to musical exploration.
His travels took him from the vibrant musical landscapes of Spain and Brazil, where he honed his skills as a guitarist, to the innovative spaces of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he co-founded the online radio Groovalizacion. iZem's narrative continued to unfold across Dublin, Ireland, and eventually Lisbon, Portugal, where his debut album "Hafa" was born. Released on Soundway Records in 2016, "Hafa" is an exploration of genre-defying soundscapes, blending afro-centric rhythms with soulful songwriting and hybrid beats. Collaborations with global music icons, including Elza Soares, Mayra Andrade, Sara Tavares, and Guts, further cemented his place in the global music scene.
In 2018, the release of two EP’s on Enchufada and Heavenly Sweetness showcased iZem's ability to weave jazz and hip-hop elements with percussive beats, establishing him as a distinctive voice in the global music landscape. His 2022 project "Yemamaya," a collaboration with Brazilian artist Luiz Gabriel Lopes, received widespread acclaim for its innovative blend of Afro-Brazilian influences and electronic funk.
